Choosing Quality Manual Pallet Jacks

Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 Published By: Roy Williams

Choosing Quality Manual Pallet JacksPallet jacks are some of the most common tools found in the supply chain.  Finding out after you buy that your new pallet jack is leaking hydraulic fluid and is already out of warranty only causes frustration and despair.  When selecting a pallet jack, look for premium steer wheels and load rollers that will protect your floor and carry the load easily. Also look for a 2 year warranty on the hydraulic unit and most important, look for a trusted source. There are many brands and prices to choose from and selecting a quality pallet jack should provide for many years of service with very little maintenance.

Shopping for Value and Quality

Price shopping is important to the bottom line, however, so is value and quality shopping.  In looking at the variety and availability of pallet jacks, one will find the premium brands and a larger selection of the best value or economy brands. Many pallet jacks are imported, and some are meant to last only a short period of time.  Staying away from a throw away pallet jack is usually the best course of action as the hassle of frequent replacement purchasing is truly more costly.

Pallet Jacks Available in the Most Popular Sizes

Standard pallet jacks, or the most popular size, is the 27 inch wide with 48 inch long forks that carry 5,500 lbs.  These stocked pallet jacks are always available at Casters of Amarillo, Inc. along with other sizes that will provide varying fork lengths and widths.  We also provide low profile pallet jacks as well as four way entry pallet jacks.  Ask yourself, “What do I need in a quality jack?”  Most end users will say that dependability is most important.  Casters of Amarillo, Inc. only stocks quality pallet jacks that will give you the performance and reliability that you expected.

With many years of experience in the material handling industry, it is our job at Casters of Amarillo, Inc. to see that our customers are satisfied with the products and services we provide.  Many of the catalog companies may provide best value economy pallet jacks at a reduced price with a reduced quality in the product and generally do not offer parts or service.  Many competitors offer a 1 year replacement warranty and some competitors offer only 90 days.  Our pallet jacks come with a 2 year pump warranty along with a 1 year workmanship warranty on the forks and frame against defects.  Parts for our pallet jacks are always available quickly when the need arises. We only stock premium replacement steer wheels, load rollers and bearings.

Material Handling Equipment

Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 Published By: Roy Williams

Material handling equipment is equipment that is related to the movement, storage, control and protection of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal.

The efficient handling and storing of products are vital to many types of industry.  Unfortunately, the improper handling and storing of products can result in costly injuries. Therefore, it is very important to find the proper type of material handling equipment for the specific job. When a load is so bulky that a person can’t properly grasp or lift it, material handling equipment is necessary.

Storage and Handling Equipment

Storage and handling equipment is a category within the material handling industry. The equipment that falls under this description is usually non-automated storage equipment. Products such as pallet racking, shelving and carts, among others, belong to storage and handling.

Engineered Systems

Engineered systems are typically custom engineered material handling systems. Engineered systems are often a combination of products integrated to one system. Many distribution centers will optimize storage and picking by utilizing engineered systems such as pick modules and sorting systems.

Industrial trucks

Industrial trucks usually refer to operator driven motorized warehouse vehicles, powered manually, by gasoline, propane or electrically. Industrial trucks assist the material handling system with versatility; they can go where engineered systems cannot. Forklift trucks are the most common example of industrial trucks but certainly aren’t the extent of the category. The advantage of forklifts is that they are usually small enough to bring into different warehousing situations. Tow tractors and stock chasers are additional examples of industrial trucks. Their greatest advantage lies in the wide range of attachments available; these increase the truck ability to handle various types and shapes of material.

Conveyor

Conveyor is another form of material handling. Conveyor can be used in a multitude of ways from warehouses to airport baggage handling systems. Types of conveyors available are power and free, chain, towline and roller conveyors.

The Advantages Of Using An H-Frame Dolly

H-Frame Dolly

If you need to move a large dresser, file cabinet, or bulky desk, we offer an H-frame dolly to do the job. There are many advantages of using this type of material handling equipment. The H-frame dolly gives you a flat surface on which to transport just about anything, including hot tubs, appliances, sofas, pianos, and entertainment units.

The heavy duty framework is extremely stable and distributes the weight of the load across all four casters. This distribution makes the load less likely to shift and easier to maneuver around. In most cases, one or two H-frame dollies can handle just about any general purpose moving need you might have.

H-frame dollies are constructed for plenty of load capacity

H-frame dollies are made from one inch (4/4) kiln-dried oak. The tight grains of the oak offer more strength than softer woods like pine or cedar. Kiln-drying the oak removes moisture from the grains, making the wood more stable in higher humidity. This stability helps prolong the life of the dolly and preserves its ability to carry a lot of weight.

Typical moving dollies, also known as furniture dollies, are wrapped in carpet to protect the load from moving around. While the carpet does a better job than the bare wood can, it doesn’t grip as well as the black conveyor belt tread that comes standard on the H-frame. This durable tread offers better gripping and more durability than carpet does.

Some loads are larger than others. Having H-frame dollies in two sizes makes it possible to handle most any size load. The smaller dolly measures 18 inches by 30 inches. The larger one measures 24 inches by 36 inches. Each dolly can handle up to 1000 pounds on the four inch casters that are standard, but these casters can typically be changed to a higher capacity caster.

Soft tread swivel casters won’t leave marks and increases maneuverability

A common complaint about some moving dollies are the scuff marks that the casters tend to leave behind. That’s generally a sign of a poor quality caster wheel. With deluxe soft gray casters, this should not be a problem. These casters will glide over freshly laid travertine tile or your nice wood flooring without leaving a mark.

The swivel casters that come with the H-frame dollies make it easy to move even the heaviest load within a very small turning radius. This makes it easy to maneuver the load down a tight hallway or into an elevator. H-frame dollies are the ideal piece of moving equipment.

Casters of Amarillo, Inc. offers H-frame dollies as well as other movers dollies and specialty dollies. We can also customize your order with any caster you need for the task at hand.
